Last week on the blog I talked about the importance of finding adventure in your daily life, as opposed to waiting for that one big trip every year. (Recently I learned that a real badass adventurer, Alastair Humphreys, has coined this a "microadventure." I like that term, so I'll be using it, too!) I also promised to share some photos from my own adventures to give you an idea of the potential for finding great adventures on a budget, without a lot of time, and staying mostly close to home. Each of the photos below is from a different adventure that I went on in 2014. One photo per adventure, whether it be a day trip out of Santa Barbara or three week trip to Europe.
I threw in a few selected microadventures that I managed to take during my workday or on a normal weekend. Hopefully this will help you believe that you don't need a long break to find a little adventure and that it is possible to explore after work and on weekends. Have a photo from your own weeknight or weekend adventure that you would like to share? Follow us on Instagram and let us find your photos by commenting with @wayfarecollective and #5to9adventures.
If you are interested in more details on any of the trips that these photos were taken on, shoot me a message in the comments below!
...and some Santa Barbara microadventures, as promised.
